Quote du Jour (Faith Department)

Found this in Obama on Faith: The Exclusive Interview by Cathleen Falsani (@godgrrl):

I think that religion at its best comes with a big dose of doubt. I’m suspicious of too much certainty in the pursuit of understanding just because I think people are limited in their understanding.

─ Barack Obama, President of the United States of America

  1. Thanks, Meredith. This is such a smart statement. Will read the entire interview. -- Jim

  2. It depends. Can we be certain that we know it all? No. Can we be certain about the content of our faith? Yes. Doesn't the term "believer" pretty much cover that?

I'm concerned that, though some who would make this statement would do so out of humility, some would be asserting a moral relativism that I can't agree with.
