I had the privilege of reading this book before it went to press and midway through had generated a list of people for whom I'd buy it as a gift. Why? Because even though I know the author and have witnessed her journey, I was moved and inspired while reading about it.

If you're a regular reader, you know it takes a lot to move and inspire me these days. I want to believe that's because I'm more tired than I am jaded, but then, maybe not. Moving right along!

Both practical and poignant, A Monk in High Heels, will appeal to anyone at the beginning of a spiritual journey as well as anyone who has been on the Inward Ho trek for years.

Brenda is a highly visual writer whose word pictures are vivid. She writes about deep challenges to faith without getting mawkish and provides comic relief without undermining her points about how to engage more fully with God despite secular distractions.

Also worth noting: this is a relatively short book offering a quick read that's thought-provoking enough to make readers return again and again.

Full disclosure: Brenda Keller has become a dearly beloved friend over the years. She once left a pair of socks and let me have a pair of her hoop earrings. I think you're going to be jealous of me for that, especially after reading her book and realizing how amazing she is.
