Quote du Jour (Religion Department) | Pope Francis: "Do not be a closed church..."

Did you ever think you'd see the day when I'd post more than one pull quote from a text? How about more than one pull quote from anything the Pope had to say? Well, that day has come! I'm posting an entire video, albeit a couple of weeks after it originally hit the Internet.

Truth to tell, I just got around to listening to this glorious wisdom. And I'm sitting here laughing at myself for writing, "I just got around..." because today was the perfect day to listen to this video. Holy Spirit? That's what I'm thinking.

I've listened to this video more than once. I plan to listen to it again. Maybe you will feel compelled to do so as well.

Definitely worth listening to more than once as there is so much food for thought here. I love the statement "the most important thing is Jesus" and also "I would much prefer if you would shout "Jesus"...so from now on, no more Francesco but only Jesus". Jesus, prayer and witness. The church for the poor is so important as well. I could go on...Thanks so much for posting this.

Oh Lynda...yes! That's the passage that moved me with such delight, him basically saying stop reverencing me as pope and focus on Jesus, who we're supposed to be loving and serving.

And everything about being an open church and willing to make bloopers. Love. This. Pope.

The homily last Sunday at the parish was mostly quotes from Pope Francis, especially his time with the students from Jesuit schools. He got applause--twice--that morning. Unheard of. Such a deal.
