  2. I believe the correct liturgical color for Peeps is yellow.

  3. Being a cradle Catholic, I thought I’d share with you my tradition for Holy week growing up in suburban, NJ during the late 60’s and 70’s. My sister and I would “hunt and gather” peeps (of all colors - although back then they were yellow, white and pink.) We would have a grand old sugar feast of peeps, jelly beans malted eggs with the occasional matzo slathered in butter, while watching intently the stories of the bible unfold before us. WABC Channel 7 had the 4:00pm movie and during Holy Week we could watch such classics such as “The Robe“ “Spartacus“ “Samson and Delilah“ and “The Greatest Story Ever Told” (Part 1 & 2). I always ended up crying after part of The Greatest Story Ever Told, part one ended with the beheading of John the Baptist - I was a big Charlton Hesten fan, and that meant I couldn’t see him again till Easter Sunday’s “The Ten Commandments” appeared. At that time, I could then eat the contents of my Easter basket while reciting word for word 90 percent of the movie’s monologs. What did other’s do growing up catholic in the early Vatican 2 Days??? Mmmm..I think I see the beginnings of my over indulgence of sweets and holidays, maybe if I had come to the Catholic faith as an adult, I would be wearing a smaller Easter Dress this Sunday.
